Online Counselling Therapy for
Self-esteem

Are you looking for Online Counselling Therapy for
Low Self-Esteem?

What is Self-Esteem & Low Self-Esteem

Self-esteem can be defined as the positive way in which we view our self-worth and abilities.  In other words, it is about how we value ourselves.  An individual who struggles to value themselves, their abilities or thinks negatively about these things is said to have low self-esteem.

Low self-esteem can be a temporary and normal response to difficult life events however prolonged and habitual feelings of low self-esteem can impact other areas such as confidence and relationships with other people.  Low self-esteem can prevent individuals from realising their true potential and from becoming the person that they truly are. The effects of all these things can often result in a negative cycle which reinforces negative thoughts, feelings and actions associated with low self-esteem.

Low self-esteem can affect us in different ways however common symptoms of stress include things like:

  • A lack of self-worth
  • Comparing ourselves to other people
  • Feeling worthless
  • Feeling pessimistic about the future
  • Feeling ‘not good enough’
  • Feeling an intense pressure to achieve
  • Low confidence
  • Low mood
  • Paranoid thoughts and feelings
